DDG has a technologically sophisticated and highly experienced staff of dedicated professionals. We are accustomed to aggressive schedules and have successfully met the needs of various public and private clients since its inception in 1997.

David L. Duplantis, PE

Chief Executive Officer

David has served in a leadership role at DDG since founding the company in 1997, and is currently serving as CEO. Under his leadership, the firm has grown from a single office with a handful of employees to a multidisciplinary services operation with four Louisiana offices, two Texas locations, and nearly 80 talented employees. With the support of his partners, David promotes DDG’s core values of Respect, Integrity, Client Satisfaction and Excellence internally and externally, and drives new discipline development. He consults on projects when needed as well.

David acts as the executive officer providing vision and long-range strategic planning for the firm; he operates an open-door policy and supports the growth and development of his employees.  David encourages and supports participation by our employees in advancing the quality of life in the communities in which they live and work. These actions may be through leadership, mentoring, or recreational activities. Personally, he gives of his time to many community groups including the E.D. White Alumni Group, Restore or Retreat and Nicholls State Athletics.

Family – David and his wife Mary are actively involved parents of their four children, Tyler, Kaley, Ryan, and Jacob.

Fun – In his spare time, David enjoys golfing, fishing, and attending his kids’ extracurricular activities. He can also boil some mean crawfish!

 

Matthew Newchurch, PE, MBA, LEED AP

President

Matthew is responsible for the day-to-day operating activities of the firm. His primary function in this role is to translate the firm’s core values, vision, and strategy as set forth by his partners into actionable plans tailored specifically to DDG’s diverse business units and their team members to be carried out by other firm leaders.

A critical component of this responsibility includes serving as the continuous link between the firm’s design professionals and DDG’s teams of accounting, administration, information technology, business development and human resource professionals. This requires implementation, oversight and enforcement of policies, procedures, protocols and controls that govern the operations of the firm.

He also closely monitors the firm’s project workload throughout the Gulf South. This allows him to not only help support DDG’s commitment to first-class client service, but it also allows him to keep a pulse on the latest in industry standards and practices in the A/E/C community.

Certifications – Licensed Professional Civil Engineer, CPESC, CPESWQ, LEED AP

Family – Married in 2003, Matthew and his wife, Neely, are currently navigating parenthood of four very special and completely different children; Jake, Kate, Annie, and Alice.

Fun – While hunting and fishing certainly remain lifelong passions, he and Neely often opt to test their mettle with less leisurely pursuits such as off-road adventure races, trail running and mountain biking.

 

 

Stephen M. Viguerie, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP

Principal

 Stephen M. Viguerie, AIA is a Principal with DDG. Stephen joined the firm as the first architect on staff, since that time he has played a key role in the development of the architectural division. Currently, his role includes business development, management of design teams and contract administration for a multitude of project types in the public and private sectors.

Education – Bachelor of Architecture, Louisiana State University, 1992

Certifications – Licensed Architect, LEED AP, NCARB

Family – He is married to Madonna Babin Viguerie, and they reside in the Thibodaux area with their three extremely active children James, Erin, and Luke

Fun – Stephen likes fishing, hunting and LSU athletics.

 

 

Thomas H. Buckel, PE

Vice President of Engineering

Thomas Buckel is a Principal and leads the DDG Covington branch office. In addition, Tommy manages the hydraulic and hydrologic team as well as the coastal division of the firm. He has practiced civil engineering well over a decade throughout the southeast on projects ranging from large site developments, program management, coastal and public infrastructure. In addition to his technical day to day functions, Tommy has assisted local public agencies with scope creation, identifying funding sources and overall project execution.

Buckel is currently active in ASCE, ACEC, ICSC, St. Tammany West Chamber, Hammond Chamber, Knights of Columbus and an assistant coach with St. Tammany Recreation Department.

Certifications – Professional Engineer

Family – Married to his college sweetheart, Melissa and they have two children Dylan and Molly.

Fun – They enjoy splitting family time between Covington and New Orleans, spending a lot of their spare time with their children who are involved in various activities at school, the recreation district, and in the community.

 

 

Chad D. Danos, FASLA, PLA

Business Unit Leader, Landscape Architecture

A leader in his field, Chad Danos approaches each challenge with conviction inspired by his South Louisiana heritage and work ethic. Prior to joining DDG in 2011, Chad was Principal of BROWN+DANOS land design, inc. and Danos Land Design where he enjoyed guiding prominent projects such as: North Boulevard Town Square (Baton Rouge), Forest Community Park (Baton Rouge), Woman’s Hospital (Baton Rouge), Thibodaux Regional Medical Center (Thibodaux), Terrebonne Main Library (Houma), Louisiana Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan, the Louisiana Speaks Regional Plan, and the Downtown Strategic Plan (Abbeville) to name a few. Chad offers an added value to client projects because of his project experience in planning, design, and implementation. Combining his two decades of project and leadership experience with his passion for functional, yet sustainable design, Chad has the ability to design projects that make sense.

Certifications – PLA (LA, TX, MS, AL, FL)

Family – He is married to Tika, and they have one daughter, Micah.

Fun – In his spare time, you are sure to find Chad watching either LSU football or at his daughter’s softball game. During Mardi Gras season, watch out as you are sure to find the former King of Versailles throwing beads off of a float along the Larose-Cut Off parade route.

 

 

Kyle Domangue, AIA

Vice President of Architecture

Kyle Domangue is a licensed Architect and Business Unit Leader. Kyle worked in Houma and Baton Rouge for nearly a decade before moving to Phoenix, AZ, where he became a Principal in the largest design firm in Phoenix while working on projects all over the United States. Upon his return to south Louisiana, Kyle joined DDG in 2009. Kyle provides quality and responsible architectural design solutions for our clients and approaches every design problem as an opportunity to create great experiences.

Certifications – Licensed Architect, NCARB

Family – Kyle has three children – Bethany, Carson and Davis.

Fun – Kyle enjoys to write, record and perform original music with his band – Voodoo Bayou.

 

 

Heather Klingman, PE

Senior Associate

Heather Klingman has been a member of the DDG team since December of 2000. She joined the firm as an Engineer Intern and began working with DDG’s large retail sector clients.  As a key member of the DDG team, Heather currently manages both commercial and public sector projects from her hometown of Thibodaux, LA. She uses her broad range of experience to expand the reach of our actively growing public sector engineering program.  As a native of South Louisiana, and a Cajun girl at heart, Heather is very proud to be a part of the work being done by our local governments to better our communities and our way of life.  Heather is an active member of the local and state chapters of the Louisiana Engineering Society (LES), and served on the 2012-2013 State Board of Directors as the Secretary/Treasurer.

Certifications – Professional Engineer

Family – Heather’s husband is Kenneth, and they have two boys – Collin and Owen.

Fun – In her spare time, she enjoys Saints football, cooking, and gardening.

 

Michael Thomassie, PE

Principal – Baton Rouge Business Unit Leader

Michael Thomassie joined the DDG team in 2006 after working as a project manager for a regional civil engineering firm in New Orleans. He has a construction background gained from years of experience working part-time in high school as well as working summers until graduating from college.  His engineering experience includes a wide variety of projects for local, regional and national clients.  Michael is a member of numerous community and professional organizations and is active in the Baton Rouge Chapter of Louisiana Engineering Society (LES) where he served as Chapter President. Michael is also a member of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) where he is currently serving as the Baton Rouge Chapter President.

Education – Major in Civil Engineering with Minors in Structural Engineering and Construction Management, Louisiana State University, 2004

Certifications – Professional Engineer, LEED AP

Family – Michael’s wife is Meg, and they have one son and one daughter, Joseph, and Grace Lane.

Fun – LSU Football and his kids’ sports keep Michael busy in Baton Rouge on most weekends, but when he can get away he spends much of his time at the finest beach in the Gulf (Grand Isle) and in the woods or marsh hunting.

 

Kainen LeBlanc, PE

Principal

As a Senior Associate, Kainen LeBlanc has been tasked with the oversight of several national client programs throughout the Gulf Coast; he also leads a vital technical compliance clearinghouse for several of our largest clients. This involvement allows him to participate in the overall project cycle from conceptual planning to re-zoning, annexation, plan production, and construction observation and inspection. Kainen is a member of the Louisiana Engineering Society (LES) and American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

Education – Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, 2004

Certifications – Professional Engineer

Family – Kainen and his wife Sarah are the parents of three children, Avery, Ladd, and Kathryn.

Fun – Kainen enjoys fishing, spending time with his family, and watching various sports.

 

 

Joseph Guillory, PE

Senior Associate

After spending 15 years in the medical field, Mr. Guillory’s lifelong passion for the Louisiana outdoors motivated him to obtain his degree in civil engineering and embark on a new career focused on coastal restoration and water management. Mr. Guillory has eight years of experience as a civil engineer focused on coastal restoration, marsh creation, hydrologic restoration, freshwater diversions, drainage design, and program management. A former CPRA employee, Mr. Guillory worked on a variety of projects including the 2012 CPRA Master Plan, Bohemia River Diversion, and the analysis of water management activities at the Davis Pond and Caernarvon Diversions.

Sam Thomas, PE

Senior Associate

Sam Thomas has over fourteen years of project management and civil engineering design experience, most recently the last seven years with DDG, and twelve years of civil engineering land development throughout the Greater Houston area. He has worked throughout Texas and the Southwest U.S. working extensively through private and public sectors. Mr. Thomas is the business unit leader for DDG’s Houston office.

Benjamin Chiasson, PE

Senior Associate

As an associate, Ben has been tasked with the oversight of several national client programs throughout the Gulf Coast and Greater Houston area allowing him to participate in the overall project cycle from conceptual planning to re-zoning, annexation, plan production, and construction observation and inspection. With this experience, Ben has a significant role in the company’s Quality Control and Quality Assurance process ensuring that each project are accurate and precise prior to leaving the office. Ben is an active member of the local and state chapters of the Louisiana Engineering Society (LES), and is currently serving as the local LES Bayou Chapter President and LEF Bayou Chapter Director.
