DESCRIPTION:
DDG is currently seeking a Civil CAD Technician to join our team. The Civil CAD Technician will be responsible for providing overall project assistance and construction document preparation support. This position reports to the Civil Design Manager or Project Manager and works closely with the civil engineers and CAD designers. The Civil CAD Technician position plays an important role in our engineering teams producing well thought-out designs and quality drawing packages needed to control project construction and deliver critical solutions for our clients.
ACTIVITIES + RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promote DDG’s core values, both internally and externally, and comply with the DDG Company Manual
- Assist with producing site civil engineering and/or land development design plans, including drainage, grading, water, wastewater, signage and marking plans for industrial, commercial, and residential site development.
- Development and plotting of maps showing topographical contours, elevations, profiles, and cross-sections.
- Applies the use of rough sketches, notes, and verbal instruction to develop civil plans.
- Produce plan-profile drawings for public infrastructure improvement projects.
- Visualize and plan the geographic representation of designs for land development related projects including industrial, commercial, and municipal.
- Respect and work efficiently within the budgetary constraints established by the Project Manager.
- Understand and integrate: DDG CAD Standards, clarity and accuracy of documents, and client-dictated design criteria.
- Comply with project schedules for each project.
- Edit/Create a full set of construction documents within 25% of final product with input from supervisor.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS + ABILITIES:
- Excellent problem-solving skills. Be able to identify and seek needed information/research skills.
- Extensive knowledge of AutoCAD software, preferably Civil 3D, and other drafting techniques.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Technical Certificate or Associate’s Degree from a computer-aided-drafting program/school
- Experience in commercial land development, including site improvement design, drainage, utilities, grading, etc.
- Demonstrated proficiency in civil land-based CAD drafting and the latest AutoCAD software.
- Operation of CAD workstations, plotters, printers, and other associated equipment to support the preparation of designs for engineering projects.
- 0-4 years of civil drafting experience
PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.
- Must be able to travel to various project sites.
- Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.
