This project nestled near the heart of Lafayette consisted of +/- 124 acres surrounded by a nearly fully developed environment. The project involved a mixed-use of retail and commercial stores which required new public roadway infrastructure and an on-site detention system which would accommodate the two phases of planned development. A combination of DOTD’s hydraulic manual, the Lafayette Consolidated Stormwater Guidelines, LA DOTD HydrWin software, and AutoCAD Civil3D was used to analyze the entire sites stormwater. The site had to be analyzed with two separate outfalls one of which was taking on a large amount of off-site stormwater. The project includes four new streets throughout the development including a round-a-bout. The total length of these streets is about 2 miles and they were dedicated to the city along with the public utilities. In addition to these on-site public streets, there are substantial off-site roadway improvements required to both Kaliste Saloom Rd. and Ambassador Caffery Parkway.
