DDG’s Architecture and Civil team, in collaboration with Gould Evans Architects, is working with Bayou Community Academy (BCA) on their new K-8 school in Thibodaux, LA.
The first step in the design process was to complete a new comprehensive building program; it is a result of tours and analysis of existing facilities, information gathered by BCA, and interviews with BCA executive committees, staff, and scholars.
Now, the project is moving into the next phase – due diligence and site development. DDG’s Civil team is providing due diligence services for the project site, which include surveying, geotechnical engineering, and traffic analysis. Simultaneously, DDG’s Architecture team is beginning on the schematic design for the 60,072 square-foot school. Once completed the campus will serve approximately 600 students and will include approximately 20 classrooms, a cafetorium, a gymnasium, administration wing, library, and computer labs. DDG will continue to manage the project as it moves forward through the Design Development and Construction Documents phases. DDG will assist BCA with bidding and contracts and construction administration through the completion of the campus. The project is slated to begin construction in Fall 2020.
