As a Joint Venture, Duplantis Design Group, PC + GraceHebert Architects, APAC were selected to design a state-of-the-art, 125,000 square foot, 600 bed correctional complex in Thibodaux, LA, for the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office. In addition to housing units ranging from maximum security to dormitory-style layouts, the facility also includes intake/processing functions, property storage, video and contact visitation, medical services, full commercial kitchen and dining area, commercial laundry area, maintenance, and administrative areas. Another important aspect of this facility is the numerous program spaces, classroom, and meeting spaces designed to offer rehabilitation programs to inmates awaiting trial. Site features include separate public and staff access/parking, secure sallyport, and on-site sewer treatment plant. The project was delivered via the construction Manager-At-Risk (CMAR) method with Yates Construction. This project is expected to receive LEED Gold Certification. DDG’s primary responsibilities include civil engineering, architectural permitting, and construction administration.
