DDG was afforded an opportunity with Motiva Enterprises to compete in a design competition against multiple very large design firms. After a four-day fast track design effort, DDG was awarded the project. This fast pace schedule continued through the design process with an aggressive design-assist project delivery with The Lemoine Company that required the team to work very closely together to complete design and construction in less than one year. Project coordination was required immediately with Pontratrain Levee District and the Army Corps of Engineers for pile driving activities and earthwork since the site was within 1500 feet of the Mississippi River levee. DDG provided flood plain analysis and hydrology studies for a 35-acre site to solve multiple drainage issues across the site prior to starting construction of the new Tezcuco Place Multi-Purpose Facility. This state-of-the-art 18,546 square foot building includes the following program requirements: formal lobby and toilet facilities, town hall meeting and conference center for 400 occupants with breakout rooms, outdoor covered dining and gathering space with view of Tezcuco Plantation house oak tree grove, full service kitchen and food court to serve approximately 1,500 meals per day for turn-around plant workers, executive conference center for Motiva Enterprise LLC executives with full high technology video conferencing capabilities, fitness center with locker room/shower room, personal training staff offices, workout rooms, and spin classrooms.

“From preconstruction through production, DDG’s willingness to discuss options and trouble-shoot issues proved an invaluable resource which engendered a profound trust between not only The Lemoine Company’s project management team, but has been echoed by our subcontractor partners.”
