This new 1,700 square foot wood frame building will be a great addition for the Nicholls State University Campus. Replacing a beloved university building, made for a very unique and sentimental project to the owner and the community. DDG was proud to provide design services for phase one of this exciting multi-phase project.
The new facility will replace an existing greenhouse building with a new building taking up a similar footprint. In conjunction with the University’s Culinary and Bridge to Independence programs, the greenhouse contains a large two story space that will be able to host numerous campus and community events. The space is lined with clerestory windows, exposed trusses and French doors to an outside garden. It can also double as a main sales area for future plant sales and other Bridge to Independence Programs. The building will also contain an office for staff and warming kitchen for catering services.
This contract is under construction and is expected to be completed in 2020. The campus is hoping to begin phase two of the program soon, which will encompass the glass greenhouse structure, storage pigeonnier, and site improvements.
