DDG – in association with The Sports Force out of Canton, GA – is working with the Louisiana Stadium and Exposition District (LSED) to develop Phase 1 of The John Alario, Jr. Sports Complex in Westwego, LA.
The $24 million project will be a state and regional sports facility catering to recreational and youth sports travel teams and tournaments. It is anticipated to be an economic driver for the region. The project, at completion, is to encompass approximately 94 acres.
The project included significant offsite public drainage and infrastructure improvements which were funded by a cooperative endeavor agreement with the local jurisdiction. DDG provided preparation of design drawings, bid documents, cost estimates. The DDG team will provide construction administration support services for the client by performing SWPPP site observations, milestone site visits, and a construction punch list observation.
Additionally, DDG prepared Wetland Data Reports per U.S. Army Corps of Engineers guidelines, required for a Jurisdictional Determination of Section 404 wetlands and Waters of the U.S. Data presented in the report include topographic, true-color aerial imagery, LiDAR, aerial infrared, Web Soil Survey, and wetland boundary maps created with ArcGIS.
To be included in the total development: 12 baseball diamonds, 24 soccer fields, a cross country/perimeter trail, 2 playgrounds, locker/restroom/concession facilities, play lots/sand volleyball areas, administrative office space, and parking spaces for over 1,250 vehicles. Baseball and soccer fields are being designed for artificial turf.
