Headquarters Building + Chapel
The headquarters building has a very contemporary architectural design and celebrates the company’s humble beginnings to their cutting edge modern day operations. The building exterior uses many different expressions and configurations of metal siding, ACM panels and painted exposed metal. The interior of the facility is very contemporary and corporate. The materials used are wood panels, stone flooring and DIRTT walls for ease in relocating and renovating in the future. The IT server brain is centrally located and encased in a 2 hour wall for protection.
Shop Building
This project consists of a massive machine shop manufacturing space which is completely climate controlled with 24 cranes, phosphate operations, painting, high pressure Swaging operations, pipe cutting, lathing, inventory, shipping and receiving. There is a centrally located, second level business office which has visibility of all lathing operations for quality control. The facility is also equipped with men’s and women’s locker rooms, a training facility and multi-purpose room for training. The shop also has third party testing agency accommodations, gauge and tool rooms and movable glass walls for ease in relocating and renovating in the future.
K+B Pipe Threading Facility
This project included the development of a 105,000 SF industrial facility and office space in the jurisdiction of Harris County, TX. DDG provided all architectural and civil engineering design services on this project. The result is an 89,000 SF industrial development and large pipe yard. This new Houston location provides pipe threading services to the oil field industry. Facilities include an administrative office, production, maintenance, inspection, training/multipurpose, and containment buildings. Additional phases have resulted in a 20,000 SF accessory shop, additional office building, and additional pipe yard development. Design challenges included: unique-to-light industrial-use operational processes, materials routing, and employee safety; Harris County flood control; sensitivity to employee safety; on-site flood plain mitigation; permanent stormwater quality controls.
