In 1998, Gary began his career as a CAD Technician. His work ethic and dedication to our firm was undeniable and noticed by many. He became a project manager in 2002 and worked on various retail development projects and many single-family residential subdivisions. He began working on the Walmart projects with a focus on new Neighborhood Market stores. Gary has continued to manage the Walmart program and serves as a Senior Designer and Associate within our firm. His work ethic makes him not only an incredible role model, but also a superior mentor.
Favorite Project The first project for Walmart Neighborhood Market is Gary’s favorite DDG project. The traffic study, LADOTD permitting, and environmental approvals took as much effort, if not more, than the project design itself. This project taught him how to communicate efficiently and the importance of documentation At first, he felt like he was in over his head, but he proved to himself that he could get through it by asking for help when needed. Gary believes that difficult projects teach lessons and provide experience that will benefit future projects.
During his years with DDG, Paul has primarily worked on roadwork and infrastructure projects as well as being a Client Champion for many of DDG’s Industrial Clients. He started with DDG as a CAD Drafter and quickly showed the fortitude and ability to grow. He now serves the role of Senior Designer and Associate. Paul’s technical experience is not only in the realm of grading and drainage but also utility design. Paul has a great rapport with permitting agencies and utility providers. This is essential to successful planning and time management skills and making sure the projects are delivered on time within estimated budgets.
Favorite Project – Out of all the projects Paul has been involved with throughout his career, his favorite project is The Chapel at First Baptist Church located in Covington, LA. This project was a design-build project partnered with Kent Design Build. What made the project special for Paul was the openness and acceptance for group collaboration from all disciplines of design and the “out of the box” design approach to encompass site challenges. Examples of this include: designing two buildings at different finish floors, water fountains, a courtyard around an existing 42” Live Oak, dual use of an open pond, sub-surface storage, and concealing the required utilities from public view. At the end of the project, Paul felt as though each challenging detail was given exceptional attention during design, which continued into and throughout construction.
Mike is an Associate and Senior Project Manager for Team DDG. He joined our firm in 2007 and has 30+ years of experience in the Gulf South. He has provided high quality architectural designs and construction services for a wide variety of clients across a broad range of market sectors and continues to manage a diverse portfolio of projects with varying complexities. Mikes continued commitment to understanding and meeting client needs, along with a logical and responsible approach to all projects, embodies DDG’s core values.
Favorite Project – Mike’s favorite DDG project is United Community Bank (UCB) in Thibodaux for several reasons. Generally, architects want their projects to be seen, and none is more visible than UCB on Canal Blvd. Local clients, local design team, and local contractors are all reasons why UCB is truly a cornerstone project, not only for DDG, but for our community. Mike passes this project daily during his commute to work and stops for coffee at the PJ’s Coffee inside UCB. The site was certainly a challenge. The site access, circulation, coffee drive-thru, bank drive-up, Entergy poles, Canal Blvd, Bayou Lafourche, and new bank/coffee house concept were all challenging aspects that needed to be considered in this design. To Mike, everything had to be perfect, and he believes Team DDG pulled it off!
Blaise serves as a Senior Project Manager and Associate for the Architecture Team in our Thibodaux office. He earned his Louisiana State Architectural License in 2004 and joined DDG in 2006 with 7 years of prior industry experience. Since that time, he has worked on a wide array of projects from many different market sectors. Some of these include primary, secondary and postsecondary education, private businesses, industrial sector work, ecclesiastical, and municipal projects. This history has provided a wealth of experience in navigating all aspects of the design process with a concentration on the technical aspects of construction and code compliance, which he shares with the younger members of the Team through his mentorship.
Favorite Project – Blaise’s most memorable DDG project would be the Assumption Parish Community Center in Napoleonville, Louisiana. The main challenge of the project was developing a design that served the community in a variety of ways. The building and site needed to be versatile enough to provide for recreational use, high school athletics and ceremonies, as well as both large and small community and private events. The Parish Government was a pleasure to work with throughout the process and the result was a building that became a focal point for the community. Thanks to a shared vision and the partnership between the Parish and the design team, we were able to develop a multi-functional design that aesthetically reflects the local culture. Consequently, there is a great amount of satisfaction when you pass by the facility on any given day and see it being used and cared for.
Elizabeth is one of the Business Unit Leaders of the Civil Engineering team. One of Elizabeth’s favorite things about the field of civil engineering is that it’s something that everyone interacts with daily. Before joining DDG full time, she interned with DDG for three summers. Through the internship, she assisted with multiple projects across Louisiana. Within her first year of working full time, she was fully submersed in design and permitting of a 1,200+ acre single-family residential subdivision. Her initial role was assisting project managers with projects. Shortly after, her experience and skill enabled her to transition into leading, designing, and managing projects. She coordinated with contractors, sub-consultants, utility expansions, permits, the civil design team, and managed the accelerated schedule required by the client. In her career, the majority of projects that she has designed, managed, and assisted have been private sector projects in Louisiana. Additionally, Elizabeth was part of the 2021 ACEC Emerging Leaders class and is a member of the St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce’s Northshore Young Professionals group.
Favorite Project: Alexandria Power Center Drainage Improvements is Elizabeth’s favorite project because it was the first project she was able to design. This project was important to her career because it taught her lessons and skills that are still used today. This project allowed her to see how her design directly impacted and improved a client’s shopping center and retain their tenants.
