DESCRIPTION:
Duplantis Design Group, PC (DDG) is seeking a motivated, self-starting, Construction Inspector for various projects in the Mobile, AL market. As a Construction Inspector you will monitor the work of contractors and provide critical support and documentation services for several private and public sector projects.
ACTIVITIES + RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work collaboratively with engineers, construction crews, and project owners in a dynamic, attention-demanding environment.
- Observes activities critical to successful implementation of projects including earthwork, base course placement, paving and curb and gutter placement, installation of drainage and utilities, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control best management practices, etc.
- Document key project records including daily construction progress photographically and in writing, materials notebooks, as-built plans, quantity records, and schedules.
- Monitor contractor complains with contract plans and specifications.
- Monitor and document construction quantities on a daily basis.
- Monitor and report performance of contractors to Engineer in Charge.
- Review and coordinate with contractor’s execution plan including temporary traffic control and project construction phasing.
- Coordinate witness of required municipal and agency inspections and witness required materials testing.
- Successful candidates will be encouraged and authorized to obtain certain ALDOT inspection and materials testing certifications, the costs for which will be reimbursable.

PREFERRED SKILLS + REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Degree in construction management, project management, or engineering preferred.
- 3 years minimum field construction experience preferred
- Working skill in operating computer equipment, software programs and field inspection equipment.
- Highly effective written/verbal communication and organizational skills; experience reviewing and preparing field reports.
- Familiarity with commonly used surveying and construction terms.
- Strong commitment to safety, both personally and directed toward others
- Experience and ability to read and interpret plans and contract specifications.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive assigned and/or personal vehicles to perform required inspection activities.
- Experience providing construction inspection/observation/monitoring on ALDOT projects preferred.
