DESCRIPTION:
The GIS Coordinator / Developer supports DDG’s GIS operations through the development, maintenance, and deployment of geospatial data, applications, and enterprise systems. This position focuses on technical implementation, data integrity, and user support, working with the GIS Manager and other team members to deliver high-quality GIS solutions for internal and external clients, in both the private and public sector. The role requires strong technical skills, a collaborative mindset, confidence, attention to detail, and a customer service-oriented approach to everyone.
ACTIVITIES + RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, develop, and maintain GIS databases using ArcGIS Pro and Microsoft SQL Server
- Support administering ArcGIS Enterprise, including Portal and ArcGIS Server, authoring / publishing REST feature services
- Develop and deploy web mapping applications using ArcGIS Instant Apps, Story Maps, and Experience Builder and create / manage mobile data collection tools with Survey123 and Field Maps
- Support project delivery by preparing maps, data visualizations, and spatial analyses as needed
- Assist integrating GIS with other enterprise systems and data sources
- Provide technical support and training to staff and clients on GIS tools and workflows
- Ensure data quality and consistency through best practices in data management and documentation
- Collaborate with colleagues and other stakeholders to develop capabilities requirements to implement new tools and workflows
- Participate in professional GIS organizations and stay current with industry trends and technologies
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Proficient in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise (ArcGIS Server / Portal for ArcGIS) and ArcGIS Online
- Experience with MS SQL Server and enterprise geodatabase management
- Ability to develop and customize web mapping applications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Customer service mindset with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5–10 years of experience (in public sector GIS programs preferred)
- Expert knowledge of geographic and cartographic principles and practices and methods of GIS
- Familiar with Information Technology considerations related to server architecture for an Enterprise GIS deployment
- Familiar with web site / page development concepts and practices
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to travel to various project sites.
- Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.
