DESCRIPTION:
The Senior Survey Project Manager is responsible for overall supervision of commercial, industrial, municipal, and various other surveying projects. The Senior Survey Project Manager’s focus will be providing utmost satisfaction to the client aligning with DDG’s core values. The Senior Survey Project Manager should strive to ensure projects are completed within the allocated schedule and budget provided. The Senior Survey Project Manager is expected to operate projects with a certain degree of autonomy using staff and resources available within DDG’s offices to provide the client with the highest quality of services. The Survey Project Manager should be familiar with all aspects of land and/or marine surveying, the principles and practice of boundary surveying and construction layout. Experience with Client coordination and communication will be fundamental characteristics for the prospective Senior Survey Project Manager.
ACTIVITIES + RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promote DDG's core values, both internally and externally, and comply with the DDG Company Manual
- Develops a schedule for the survey based on the Survey Coordinator and Crew Manager constraints.
- Coordinates with clients to ensure that all questions are clearly defined and understood by respondents.
- Monitors the progress of projects and communicates with team members as needed to ensure that deadlines are met.
- Manages the budget for the survey project by ensuring that costs are tracked and that funds are used efficiently.
- Develops a plan for data collection based on the objectives of the survey or research project.
- Design, develop, and oversee all aspects of the survey process from start to finish.
- Work with clients to understand their needs and objectives for each project and develop a customized approach to address them.
- Manage fieldwork operations, including vendor selection, scheduling, and quality control.
- Analyze data collected from surveys using statistical software programs.
- Stay up to date on industry trends and developments and share knowledge with clients and team members.
- Train and supervise junior staff members as needed.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Perform quality assurance checks on all deliverables before they are sent to clients.
- Respect others and work efficiently within the budgetary constraints established for each project.
- Understand and integrate: DDG CAD Standards, clarity and accuracy of documents, and client-dictated design criteria.
- Work closely with project team to establish project timelines and designs.
- Attend meetings with clients and consultants to understand project needs and opportunities, as well as present proposed solutions.
- The Senior Survey Project Manager should be constantly learning and implementing lessons learned from previous assignments.
- Take initiative to assist the project team with achieving the project objectives and improving the project management processes.
- Provide guidance to the project team and support the next generation of project staff with mentorship and teaching.
- Project Management - Mentor Survey Project Managers during the development of project scope, goals, deliverables, schedules, professional service proposals and cost estimates. Prepare progress reports for management/client. Assist with Job Plan preparation.
- Provide guidance to the project team and support the next generation of project staff with mentorship and teaching.
- Search legal records, survey records, and land titles to obtain information about property boundaries in areas to be surveyed.
- Evaluating Information to Determine Compliance with Standards - Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
- Performing Administrative Activities - Performing day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork. Approving Timesheets of field/office personnel.
- 10 Business Development touches per month.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Thorough understanding of surveying principles, practices, and resources.
- Proficient in Civil 3D and/or Power Inroads, data recording, and analyzation software (Preferred).
- Thorough understanding of safety regulations related to assigned projects.
- Ability to identify and solve complex problems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to be both creative and analytical.
- Organized, detail-oriented and accurate.
- Ability to manage time and execute projects in a timely manner.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Windows operating system and Microsoft Office.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in commercial and industrial land development, including site improvement design, drainage, utilities, grading, etc.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- 10+ years experience in Land and/or Marine Surveying, with at least 7 years specifically in Survey Project Management
- Proven track record of successful project management from start to finish, within budget and deadline.
- Strong understanding of the survey research process, data collection, and analysis.
- Experience managing teams of survey researchers, analysts, and support staff.
- Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 to 50 pounds at times.
- Must be able to travel to various project sites.
- Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.
