DESCRIPTION:

Under the supervision of a Licensed Surveyor, the Crew Chief will lead all field crew activities. The Crew Chief will support office and field staff by managing the crews’ activities, calculating boundaries, training instrument operators, reporting any issues and schedules to the Chief of Parties/Crew Manager. The Crew Chief will be a champion and leader of our company core values, while maintaining internal and external client satisfaction. ACTIVITIES + RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for collecting data to ensure completion of a project. Locating boundary, pins, improvements, utilities, etc., while performing project types varying from, but not limited to: ALTA, boundary, construction staking, and topographic surveys.
  • Check and reduce raw field data, perform calculations, and download/file survey data.
  • Perform project research on an as needed basis.
  • Follow instructions/work orders from project managers.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and professional demeanor with all staff and clients.
  • Communicate daily with your Field Project Manager to confirm if you are on track to complete your field schedule- Letting them know when you are behind or ahead of schedule.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of civil drawings, construction processes and construction codes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or GED with a Minimum of 3 years of field surveying experience.
  • Ability to read blueprints, plats, maps, site plans, deeds, legal documents, and field notes.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of Robotic and GPS equipment.
  • Basic understanding of auto-linework and Trimble Equipment a plus but not required.
  • Valid Driver’s License

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to regularly work outside in all weather conditions including extreme heat and cold, wet, and muddy conditions, and high/precarious places.
  • Ability to travel frequently and work overtime including weekends, as needed.
  • Ability to lift equipment or objects weighing 50 to 75 pounds.
