BREC Projects

DDG embraced the opportunity to design landscapes that integrate a multitude of programs and complex functionality into an immersive and layered experience.

Howell Community Park was revitalized to meet the needs of the entire community. DDG created a master plan to provide outdoor amenities for all ages year round. Amenities include fishing ponds, lighted basketball courts, a multi-purpose field, an adventure playground, picnic shelters, an amphitheater, and restrooms.

Capital Area Pathways Program (CAPP) Ochsner Trail was a project that DDG was assigned by BREC to design and manage the public bidding and construction of a ¼ mile multi-use trail and trailhead along Ward’s Creek in Baton Rouge. The 10’ wide trail and trail head included an outdoor fitness area, shade pavilions, rest stations with a water fountain and a bicycle “fix it” station.

DDG was selected to complete the Airline Highway Park Site Feasibility Study. A study by Friends of Baton Rouge Zoo was endorsed by BREC Commissioners to investigate the several locations for the Baton Rouge Zoo using specific criteria. The 119-acre Airline Highway Park location met a multitude of requirements. DDG provided expertise and assessments while collaborating with the Baton Rouge Zoo criteria. Our team organized documentation, plans, and exhibits which allowed for an expedited and efficient master planning process.

DDG was awarded the Burbank Soccer Complex project to conduct improvements to the highly utilized BREC sports park on Burbank Drive in Baton Rouge. The improvements include the design of two new lacrosse fields with lighting, two multi-purpose fields, expansion of the storm-water detention pond, irrigation to the existing soccer fields, two prefabricated bathroom buildings, and the additional of lighting to two soccer fields.
